We invite all qualified applicants to submit an application

• You can access the current application for the OAR scholarship below. If you also intend to apply for the Darryl Cheeks Memorial Scholarship, see below for information about that scholarship.

• New Scholars. OAR evaluates applicants based on their high school (or GED) record, civic or community involvement, other educational, social or activist feats, a GPA of 2.5 (C+) or better, the quality of the written application and supporting materials, timely receipt of the completed application package, and a satisfactory interview performance.

• Continuing Scholars. OAR is committed to renewing your scholarship for a total of 4 years. To renew your scholarship, you are to provide a current college transcript with a GPA of C or better, and have participated in mentoring and other OAR activities. You are not required to submit a written application.

• The selection criteria above are not exhaustive. OAR may rely on other factors in evaluating applicants, and meeting these criteria do not guarantee selection or continued funding. The OAR application deadline for new and returning OAR Scholars is MARCH 20 of the current year. Our deadline is firm and we do not grant extensions.
